Seaside Sisters Holiday Open House - Does It Get More Fun Than This!

What a FUN weekend! Seaside Sisters, shop extraordinaire, was dressed from top to bottom, inside & out for the holidays! Susan, Sally, Jimmy, Jim, Mary Kay Andrews, Jane Coslick, & I were there to meet new friends and visit all the folks we know, love, and hold dear! There can't be many who missed Mary Kay's book signing, the shop filled with shopping delights, the retro camper, Le Petite Crevette, the warm apple cider and cookies, & the hospitality of everyone at Seaside Sisters, but if you did - mark your calendars for Saturday, December 6th - It will be the Tybee Island Shop Hop! (Watch this blog and http://www.seasidesisterstybee.com/ for more info!)

We sure enjoyed visiting with Laura Rauers and Jeri Gale of VeryJeri, Dr. Paula DeNitto, & Darlene Clark! We had the pleasure to meet Diane Dean of Pluff Mud, her husband, & friends from Bluffton, SC; April Solomon & her hubby; Billie Sue Spencer; Karen Michael; Kathleen Pyrch, Merritt Moore; JoAnn Jones of Richmond Hill, GA; Deborah Hammond; Jennifer Standish; and the many, many others who visited!
Check out all of the pictures below - you may be in one of them!

Michelle & Briggs visit from Midway, GA

Michelle & Briggs visit from Midway, GA
How lucky I was to have Michelle Turner visit from Midway, but she added to our delight by bringing one of her "children," Briggs! A perfect young man he is, but, Michelle, next time we want your other "child", Chase, and your wonderful husband, Leonard, to accompany you to Tybee! Briggs was decked out for Veteran's Day, and I must say, he is quite the perfect southern gentleman!

Happy Birthday, Mindy! Mindy & Bernie Visit Seaside Sisters!
What a guy that Bernie is! He brought Miss Mindy to Tybee for a week to celebrate her birthday! She found a Pamela Martin Design original she couldn't part with to remember her trip when they are back in beautiful West Virginia. (Now, it was a beautiful day indeed, but for those of us who live here, it was a chilly day at the beach - Notice that they are in flip flops, shorts, and summer shirts, & I am in thermal underwear, 2 pair of socks, jeans, and a very thick winter sweater - and I was still freezing!

What a Celebration at Seaside Sisters on Tybee Island, Georgia!

Wow! What an 1st Anniversary Party those Seaside Sisters threw on Saturday, October 18th! Big thanks go to Susan, Sally, & Linda for putting on the best party ever! The skies were gloomy, but no one seemed to care! It really was spectacular fun! It was a double celebration for Pamela Martin Designs! I was able to take my little 1978 Serro Scotty Sportsman, filled to the brim with new art, on her "Maiden Voyage". This was the first solo trip for both of us, and I would say that we accomplished what we set out to do! I was so pleased to be able to let so many of the wonderful clients of Seaside Sisters"take the tour". "She" is small, but has so much for people to see. I was also able to meet so many of the customers (new and established) who shop Diane Kaufman's "shop-within-a-shop". Diane is known for promoting local artists, and I am a very lucky girl to be selected as one of her featured artists. Just to let you know that if you did miss the October event - not to worry - mark your calendars NOW! Seaside Sisters will be having a two-day Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 8th and Sunday, November 9th. They will also be a large part of the "Shop Hop" that all of the shops on Tybee are participating in on Saturday, December 6th (I have heard that they are planning a marshmallow roast for that one - Yum!). I will be at both of those events with my little retro camper filled with holiday treasures for all of the people on your list (and don't forget to include yourself!) Please come and see all of us - it really is a lot of fun - you will be able to shop from the camper AND from Diane's shop inside - and, of course, the Sisters will have the whole shop full of wonderful treasures and "dressed" for the holidays - what a fun way to support our local merchants! Check out their website - www.seasidesisterstybee.com.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Seaside Sisters!

Happy 1st Anniversary, Seaside Sisters!
To help celebrate the 1st Anniversary of Seaside Sisters at Tybee, my retro 70s camper will be loaded with art in the parking lot ready to help the girls celebrate a year of success!

My Little Canned Ham - Le Petite Crevette!

I had seen these delightful, re-done little campers in a couple of magazines, like "Country Living". For those of us who are children of the 60s and 70s, we remember them well. Last year, Susan Kelleher(of Seaside Sisters) worked her magic to help bring about 60 retro campers (all members of a group called Sisters on the Fly) to the Tybee Island Campground. Check out my other blog - http://www.pamelamartin20four7.blogspot.com/ for a story about that adventure.
Well, from that point on, I knew that I had to have one. I looked, I searched, I went online, with no success. I knew that if I would just quit looking so hard, that maybe I would find one. Well, this fall, on September 3rd, Jeri Gale and I were driving to Wrens, Georgia, to pick up my last shipment of gourds for the art season - and there "she" was! She was in a field with grass growing up all around her in a little town called Wadley, Georgia! I have never been so excited! And for the last month, she has had a complete makeover. Here is the link to the Kodak album I prepared: www.kodakgallery.com/SelectPhotos.jsp?UV=423458319416_785092889605#
But better than that, she is attending her first art event this weekend, October 18th, at Seaside Sisters on Tybee Island. It is the 1st Anniversary of the opening of this delightful shop, and I would love for you to stop for a tour of this fun little camper!

Also, check out the following websites and blogs for more about her!

http://www.seasidesisterstybee.com/ and then you can go directly to their blog and,

and check out Diane's blog, too!

There will be lots of art and lots of fun! Come see us!

Grand Beginnings at Seaside Sisters!

Diane Kaufman (cottage rental diva) & Pam Martin (Pamela Martin Designs) have known each other for a long time, and have worked together on many projects over the years, but recently, a dream came true for both of them. Diane has been waiting on just the right time to add Pam's art line among all of the other many things she is doing. Beginning this weekend (Memorial Day), Diane's "Shop-Within-A-Shop" took on a whole, new whimsical look. Pam's work is hung from the ceiling to the floor and everywhere in between. All of your favorites are there: A funky, white Christmas tree loaded with her well-known ceramic ornaments, painted buckets (that are used for refreshments, magazines or anything else you can find to put in them), fan pulls, prints and all-occasion cards (created from her canvas series), signs, and newly-released beach gourd creations! You really have to see them to believe them! So, get down to Tybee and check out the new shop - you will love Seaside Sisters and all of the staff there - they will be thrilled to point you in the right direction. Whether you are shopping for a gift, or a treat for yourself, Diane & Pam hope you will enjoy finding it there! Let us know if there is anything special you are looking for, and as always, we will do our best to provide it for you!

100 Pages Project Submission

100 Pages Project Submission

100 Pages Project

The "100 Pages" project was designed by Lisa Vollrath. The premise behind the project is that if you gave a group of artists the same image and asked them to include it in a work of art, what would they create? How different would these works of art be? According to her website, she began the project in 2002 with 24 original participants. She reopened the project in 2007. I took the challenge and a picture of my reviewed and accepted entry is above. Be sure and check out all of the other entries to date. You can find the entries and information at www.lisavollrath.com and/or www.gomakesomething.com. You will have to register at each of her sites, but it well worth it!

Tutorial - How to Make an ATC Makeup Mirror

Thought it would be fun to share some art projects. Lori Roberts, who is a member in one of the Yahoo Groups I participate in, was the first person who introduced me to the website called www.Photoshow.com. She had produced a tutorial for us. I absolutely love this website and I hope you will find time to check it out. You can produce tutorials, shows, etc. for friends, family, work, whatever. Let me know what you think. This tutorial takes making Artist Trading Cards to a whole new level - it becomes a piece of functional art! Enjoy!

Thinking of You Card Swap Project

Thinking of You Card Swap Project

Thinking of You Assemblage Card for a Card Swap

I participate monthly in a rubber stamping card swap at one of my favorite rubber stamp stores called Cutting Edge Crafts, located in historic Port Royal, South Carolina. Shelia Barnes is the owner of this wonderfully welcoming shop! This is the card that I produced for that swap (I believe it was for January or February). I thought I would also create a tutorial for her and her stampers while I was learning to use Photoshow. Hope you will check it out! Also, while you are at it, check out Shelia's website: www.cuttingedgecrafts.com. She holds many classes, has many incredible stamps and supplies (including my line of rubber stamps), and is absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever met!

Websites That I Think Are Great and I Would Love for You to Check Out!

Either through self-discovery or sharing by others, I have been compiling lists and lists of Wonderful Websites that I hope you will also enjoy knowing about. I needed to put them in a "neat little space" instead of just in my "favorites" list or in the many journals or scraps of paper piled next to my computer. I know that this list is going to get very long. Also, if you know of any that you find wonderful, please pass them along and I will add them to the list! www.behospitable.com (I know that this is an advertisement, but I really love the premise of it. I love performing random acts of kindness and acts of "paying it forward", and now there is a place to read about others doing the same - Let's fill up their map!
